hello

Its been a busy time... but managed to make a couple of cards for my christmas  list...lol... in between  Doctors appts.. they are  a pain but  necessary... hopefully  all will be well  after  reveiw today.

christmas is coming

now I have  my stamps from GKD and raring to go ... so have  started with  a group of 6 for my soprano friends...i just love the feel  of  christmas  coming.. anticipation from  all those years ago.. watching  my  mum  making the mincemeat for  pies.. and christmas puddings with silver threepenny bits in there.. ( one for everyone) we always thought it was  just pure luck!.. and oh the excitement of hanging  one  of  my dads socks  on the end of thebed... and we were thrilled with the little presents and oranges/ nuts / crayons and books  in side on  christmas  morning.. unlike today  where pillow slips are  the go and presents downstairs too.. just goes to show  how much more affluent  this generation  is.

I cant sleep.. so Have come down to  see if making a card will help... cant believe christmas is just around the corner.. I am itching to try  out  the christmas stamps from GKD..

this card  is  made for the soprano's club...lol.. in our community choir.. I have collected  all the birthdays..so we can celebrate  each  one as it comes  up... (just another excuse to make more cards... .... its   addictive)
I just love this  bright and cheerful  tangerine colour.. and wondered if  icould put it with pink... hmmm not  bad.. gotta  be  more adventurous with my colour schemes.

This  little card  was  made for one of the group of friends  involved in a  card swap.. great idea  isnt it.. we get to enjoy the creativity of the girls.. and to make new friends.
this started out as a monochromatic card but then  I changed my  mind after looking through the new paper  pack  my daughter bought me for my birthday.. I used the roses  sheet.. its  just so pretty and  will go with almost any combination of paper/card

 I am mooching  in my craft room...cant sleep so thought I would make a card then try again. I found this  lovely  May  Gibb stamp of gumnut babies..   soo  very  Australian.. right now the kookaburra's are laughing outside my window... its  4.30 am... they are never late.lol...
 I have so enjoyed making these cards .. they are more fun than the usual ones...
Was thinking its  time to  start getting things together for christmas cards.. yikes! where has  the year flown to..

I just love this idea.. make a card.. send it off and get one back...sweet... and  a great way to stay in touch. having thebest  fun  creating them too... so hope you all  like them.

Kate and Sandy's engagement card

made very  quickly.... a cream textured Card   layered with gold CS Basic Grey  Capella  paper. nesties  labels and oval.. stamp from  my  collection.  I just love the old world charm of the Capella  papers  from  Basic Grey... will be using them  quite a lot .

Birthdays birthdays!

This weekend has seen 4 family birthdays  ! my lovely twin GD's  21st , my daughter, and my birthday .  so lots  of travel to get everyone together and a brilliant  dinner at a fabulous restaraunt overlooking the beach!
Then to top it all  Kate (on the left ,twin 1)  announced her engagement to Sandy.... perfect....the little card  I made very quickly  so that she would have  it at her birthday.

this looks more like the aftermath of a bush fire.. anyway .. Its  photo paper  brayered with yellow. then Tangello  post it note torn to create hills  outline which were sponged on with Desert sand then layered  again b elow the hills and sponged with black.
the sun was created by  punching a circle from a  post it note  and sponging over it. the  trees were  drawn in with a dewdrop  memento black  ink pad.  the card  then  layered on yellowCS and then forest green CS.

time to get on with some more cards

I have only just got back into the swing of things after our big annual concert. must think of some ideas for cards for the little ones in my daughters family day care..
In the meantime i have been experimenting with the Michelle Zindorff brayered cards.. really addictive. this one started out as a sunrise but looks more like the aftermath of a bush fire.

miss Sophie

this is my darling GD Sophie Alexandra... aged 5 going on 50.love of my life.
so smart. Also known as mini matron..she was a gem when I broke my ankle.. always there with a cushion and asking do you want a drink nana..its such a joy to watch her growing up

its winter..cold and wet.. not had time to make cards too much practising for the big concert on July 3rd
still have time to take a quick peak at all the talented galleries.. what an incredible array of talent!

I have been so busy this last few weeks hardly time to turn around!... our local line dancing group have been busy with the Blue Water country festival... thankfully the rain held off.and our choir sang at the concert. So ... i am now able to sit and reflect on what i want to try next.. gotta say that brayering is something i want to try again.. have you seen the works of art from Michelle Zindorf... truly magical...

just having so much fun with the spring mix... I found some 6x6 pads of patterned papers in Kmart of all places.. they have worked well too...
its cold and wet here and its not yet winter! so its a nice feeling to be warm and inside...

Well they finally came the spring mix collection.. have made a couple of cards with some of the stamps.. and just love the little mouse stamp what a cutie.

Finally I am back into the the swing... and not before time.. I need to make more cards for our up and coming country festival here in Salamander bay. We have lots of concerts and dancing demo's in the main street, a pretty lively time for a quiet popular seaside spot.. usually a favourite for holidaymakers for the beaches, sailing, wineries etc...
Its cold... brrr.. lol a brisk 17C not cold by some standards ..but for us when the summers can be 30-40C its cold.. all the more reason to stay indoors and create cards!

well its a beautiful autumn day here in Salamander Bay Aus ... clear blue skies... mild and warm.. and cool at night...best time of the year.
havent been able to get into my haven and do much this last couple of weeks... had my daughter and g randdaughter up ... lovely... we dont see enough of them..

Its lovely to be able to come into my card room and sit comfortably..and... try out my scor-pal...and label nesties.... so here we go!

time to get on with it!

well I am back in the harness...lol... and raring to go... have been quilling while i couldnt sit here too long... at least i could do that w hile elevating the leg....lol.. but i am now feeling great.. and starting to hobble round.. so i can at last come here and make cards...whoopeee!

getting there!

well my ankle might be fractured but I have found a way to sit and be happy making cards so here are some i have made over the past few days...nothing special but i had used all my thank you cards for my amazing colleagues in the choir who looked after me with such love and care!see you soon!

out of action!

Well I will be out of action for a couple of weeks... I fractured my right ankle.. during a choral workshop on saturday.. and I wasnt going to miss a thing so strapped it up and iced it...lol.. then went to A&E that night... so no cards for a while until i can sit at the desk without discomfort.

my first try for the STVSCVD01 challenge.. I wanted something colourwise that i wouldnt normally chose. hmmm ... not sure about this one

I found some Jac paper ( double sided adhesive paper) and used a doily to emboss with gold glitter then blue . it looks ok... this is for the STVSCD01 challenge

my first attempt at soot stamping.. and I like this technique.. rather like polished stone one never knows what its going to turn out like.
Gotta stop fiddling and get down to some birthday cards today though.

This picture is the result of 50 years of seaching for my sister Pauline.. in the process I found my brother Dick, un aware that I had any other siblings.
Sadly a common story during the war years.... but here we are ! me.. Dick and Pauline reunited after 60 years... life is GOOD!

Its been so hot and humid today..and I wanted to start putting together some ideas for the sketch challenge.. but my mind is empty!.. so I spent the day having lunch with my daughter and my best friend.. sooo.... relaxing...lol... maybe tomorrow I will make a start..

Birthday cards

Well.. its a quiet day here so time to get started on the family birthday cards for March.. Wish I could take them to the UK instead of posting them...we have missed so many birthdays.. never mind its a pleasure to be able to celebrate them now!

Where has this week gone... over so fast, and hardly time to make a card.. but with some family birthdays coming up must make the effort. The weather has been so hot and humid too... well ..thats my excuse.. but just wait til my new stamps from Gina k arrive.. then I will be a busy bee!

Well... finally I have come down to earth, Sophie (5) is staying over after Kindy while mummy goes out for her birthday treat to see George Michael... having been a fan for ever!
So we have been very busy having a teddy bears picnic! no cards today.. picnics are more fun.

Well today has been so busy... havent had time to make a card.. .but did get some valuable advice from my GD on how to manage my blog site...lol... see, you're never too old to learn! Choir practise.. always a pleasure.. then off to have tea with my daughter,and GD1 and 6... lovely.

Well here it is... my first card in my own blog site...whoo hoo.. I cant take the credit though... my GD Lauren did all the work... Gosh but they are good at this technology!
